weekly bits

Europe has taken a piece of my soul and a large chunk of my bank account, really. I enjoyed every second of Paris, even the parts when we got lost and wandered aimlessly. I’m back in the UK, and excited to be among the celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. I plan to spend this weekend celebrating, and trying to relax a bit before my last days of the trip. In the meantime, here are some bits from the week.

sun soaked by the Eiffel | endless walks through gardens throughout the city | people watching from the top | walking around Le Louvre | Dreamy views from the Arc | Resting from all my adventures | unlimited varieties of brioche from our neighborhood la boulange | my sister’s spikey Louboutins

crisp crochet

It’s no surprise that walking around Europe requires lots of flat-wear – any comfortable shoe, really.  I’ve practically been living in my sneakers so it was a good change of pace when I threw on these pair of heels to go with this little crochet “dress” (I’m pretty sure this was meant to be a shirt, but sometimes less is more) that I had worn all day.  The long bell sleeves are a perfect balance for the shorter length, and the slip  can easily change the dynamic of the outfit.

a few good things

Paris so far has been intoxicating in more ways than one.  From the beautiful language and breathtaking views, to the rich flavors and unbelievable architecture, my sister and I have tried to indulge in every last minute here.  Yesterday, we reminded ourselves that we were on vacation and it was not necessary to see absolutely everything, but more important to enjoy what was in front of us in the present.  As hard as it was, we did everything at a slow and leisurely pace (and it helped that it was still light out at 9pm) – we had a very long and late lunch paired with wine, soaked in the sun in front of the Eiffel Tower, strolled along the Seine, and finished the night with drinks and many laughs by the Moulin Rouge.

I’m looking forward to the last two days here and have plenty of photos to share, but in the meantime, here are a few good things I’m currently loving/ craving/ etc.

1.  Denim with leather detailing that can make any look a bit edgier.
2.  Lucite shades that are just far too fun to pass up.
3.  Wedges that are comfortable and more importantly, affordable.
4.  Head accessories - enough said.
5.  Floral print that I can’t get enough of.
6.  Shades of white (waltz) as a great change up for summer nails.

easy blueberry açaí bowl

I’ve mentioned before that my breakfasts get whisked together in just a matter of minutes, and that still pertains when it comes to making something healthy yet delicious.  I started making acai bowls back in college when acai was the only thing I’d ever want to drink (it got so bad that I started ordering cocktails with it), and till this day, it’s the only thing I make on a consistent basis.  Here’s a quick and easy recipe that will give you that morning boost and is one of my absolute favorites, especially after a morning workout.  Best part about it?  You can try customizing it to your liking with a variety of fruits, berries, granola!

Blueberry Açaí Bowl

Ingredients
serves: 2-3

- 1 frozen acai packet,  (find at Whole Foods or Trader Joes) ** if you can’t find the frozen packs, just buy a bottle of acai and freeze it in an ice tray.
- Frozen organic mixed berries or plain strawberries (you can easily make your own, but store-bought works just as well)
- 1 banana, and another for garnish
- 1/3 cup Granola
- Fresh organic blueberries (or other desired berries to garnish)

Directions
In a blender, combine frozen acai, mixed berries, bananas.  Blend until smooth.  Divide mixture into serving bowls, layer bananas into each bowl, then add on granola, and lastly garnish with blueberries.  Serve immediately.

pink highlighter

The sun beat down for yet another day, and this bright ensemble was a great way to casually stroll through Oxford Circus, and then grub away at a late afternoon BBQ in West London. I threw on this pink glow in the dark striped tee to balance out my denim on denim ensemble. Sometimes incorporating more elements to an outfit can work in unexpected ways.

Wearing: Vintage denim jacket | J Crew t-shirt | Zara pants | Superga sneakers | RayBan sunglasses

Neon top: from here
Ripped denim: these are great skinnies, the cropped look, or try white
