chocolate heart truffles

I love any holiday that gives me an excuse to consume an inordinate amount of sweets, especially chocolates.  For Valentine’s Day this year, I decided I would take an extra step by attempting to make homemade truffles.  I stuck with a recipe (found here - sans sea salt) that required very little effort, added some adorable edible hearts, and wrapped them up in little truffle boxes.  These rich truffles are the perfect sweet treat for close friends and family, even for all those non-believers.

  1. Nice photos and I love the little hearts :)

  2. These look awesome. The little hearts are so cute. These would make such a perfect valentine’s present. I’m in total agreement about the sweet eating holidays :D

  3. I’ve used that same recipe! Except it was with crushed up pieces of peppermint rather than hearts. I like yours so much better!

  4. Where did you find the hearts? I might try these and keep the sea salt. I have Himalayan pink sea salt that would be cute for V Day!

    • Yes, I considered using the pink sea salt but I loved the flavors without it better – it really depends on your mood. I purchased these hearts at Michael’s.

  5. They look yummy! Are they like soft truffles in the middle, or solid all the way through? Very tempted to make these.
