    classic comfort after dennis basso

There are certain pieces of clothing that come to mind when I think about comfort — sweatpants, sweatshirts, sneakers, boyfriend jeans, the list goes on.  But when it comes to looking put together throughout a normal work week (or for Fashion Week), these pieces are rarely in rotation.

The palazzo pant and pointed pump combination is usually what I gravitate toward time and again when I’m trying to achieve that put together look without feeling so… done up.  The pants create a classic silhouette, and can be easily paired with a variety of tops including knits and tees, and work best with tailored jackets and outerwear.  It’s kind of my way of looking like I care when I really can’t be bothered.  I’m sure you’ve felt that way… think, early Monday morning or maybe late Friday evening meeting perhaps?

I wore this ensemble to my busiest show day last week, combining these pants with a loosely-fitted knit splashed with deep shades of tangerine, green and some lighter accents.  Love the stark contrast of white against anything right now (esp. black).  Did a little half tuck with the sweater for good measure, and threw in my favorite accessory at the moment, a python clutch. Oh, if there’s one thing I learned, it’s that there’s nothing you can do about that crotch-crinkle-crease… I’m sure there’s a name for it.  photos taken by Mangue and Taylor Spears
